Engineering disclaimer

Point	What it means for you
Evaluation only	The calculators, charts and articles are provided for evaluation, education and preliminary design. They are not a design approval.
Independent verification	Any result used in a design, a product or a safety-related decision must be independently verified by a competent engineer who takes responsibility for it.
Standards govern	The site is not a substitute for the governing standard, specification or drawing. Where a cited standard, a customer specification or a regulator's requirement differs from a result here, that document takes precedence. Check that you hold the current edition.
Assumptions and limits	Each calculator states its method, assumptions and range. Results outside those limits, or with inputs you have not checked, may be wrong.
Your responsibility	You are responsible for your inputs, for checking results against the applicable standards and for every design decision you make.

Limitation of liability	To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its results, including loss of profit, loss of data or indirect or consequential loss.
What is not excluded	Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.
Intellectual property	Text, code, charts and design on the site belong to the operator unless stated otherwise. You may use results and printed reports in your own work. You may not copy or republish the pages or calculators in bulk.
Standards and trademarks	Standard numbers and names are cited for reference. They belong to their publishers, who do not endorse this site.
Errors	Report suspected errors through the contact page. Confirmed corrections are listed on the page concerned. See the editorial policy.
Advertising and links	The site may show advertising and link to other websites. The operator is not responsible for their content or products.
Changes	These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows the current version.
Governing law	These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
